We have a team of roadmap leaders to guide Qblox’s growth and development. Here you can get to know our roadmap leader, Fokko. Additionally, find out more about applying to join the roadmap leader team.
What is your educational background?
I obtained a PhD in experimental solid-state physics, where I researched novel qubit types. I also worked as a postdoc for two and a half years before joining Qblox.
Describe your current role at Qblox.
As a Roadmap Leader, my core responsibilities are product management and grant management. Product management entails defining our new products and product updates through describing their requirements. During the product development, we then keep an eye on whether the requirements are satisfied. We work in a team of roadmap leaders and divide the work up, typically with respect to qubit type or application domain.
You mentioned in your description that you are responsible for defining the requirements for the Qblox’ products. What exactly do you mean?
Within Qblox we are constantly improving our existing products and developing new products. Ideating these added features and products starts by defining what they can be used for. These use cases are then translated into clear and concise requirements that the engineering teams use to design, implement and test their solution.
Another thing you mentioned is grant management. Can you elaborate more on this?
In order to fund more product development and accelerate our growth we apply for grants from different funding agencies. We work together with many partners both in academia and industry within these subsidized projects. Acquiring new grants and managing the execution of the granted projects together forms our grant management task.
And what about thought leadership? What kind of activities do I have to think about?
To both contribute and keep up to date with the state of art research and development, we actively participate in scientific and business conferences. On behalf of Qblox we give talks but also organize workshops and tutorials at various conferences in order to learn together with the community and drive the field forward.
Is Qblox thinking about expanding the team? And if so, in which specializations?
We are actively hiring a roadmap leader in the domain of integration of our quantum control stacks in high performance computing environments.
